I’ve been a Boeing employee for 21 years and am stunned. When Boeing was originally awarded a contract to supply the United States Air Force with refueling tankers, Sen. John McCain stated that American taxpayers were getting ripped off by this type of government spending. What about sending American taxpayer dollars to France? Is this a better type of government spending? The headlines read that Northrop-Grumman was awarded this contract, when in reality Airbus was awarded this contract.
This refueling tanker will not be assembled in the United States as the press has stated. The refueling systems might be installed in the United States, but the airplane itself is French built through and through. This is another blatant case of Republican economics. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to read in the future that the Air Force was purchasing Russian built MIGs to go with their French built refueling tankers.
