I am appalled that The Herald editorial board supports reducing workplace safety standards (“Time isn’t right for new ergonomics rules,” Oct. 12, editorial). In my opinion, working people shouldn’t have to gamble when they go to work whether their boss is smart enough to see that reducing job injuries will help everyone cut costs and save employees a lot of pain and suffering. Working people should be guaranteed that all employers provide a safe workplace.
Initiative 841 sets a terrible precedent and if it passes it will lead to a massive attack to roll back workplace safety, health and wage standards. What will be next – asbestos?
