I know it seems to be a done deal as to the location of this hockey rink, but is it such a good location? Last year an investor said he wanted to refurbish the old buildings – enhancing the look of downtown Everett – so he bought a bunch of buildings. This year a bulldozer called a hockey stadium is sweeping the area to the thrill of everyone – except those concerned with the look of downtown Everett. Go to any city that has a hockey rink and when nothing is happening there, look at what is happening there. It doesn’t make sense to place this rink there, like many who spoke against it agree. But even while they were talking, the council was already going forward. I think, based on my travels and intelligence, that this is going to be a disaster long term with problems. By the way, what building is ever built these days that doesn’t have cost run-ups? By the way who is going to be accountable for the outcomes long-term?
