I’m not much of a baseball fan but I do enjoy a good exhibition game now and again – like last Tuesday’s All-Star game. The best of the American League and National League playing for fun – like they were kids again. What disappoints me is the fans. They paid money to see a nine-inning game. They should feel so lucky to watch 11 innings. Eleven innings of great plays. Torii Hunter stealing a homer from Barry Bonds. Bonds actually hitting a home run. Yeah, there was no winner. Chants of “let them play” echoed through out the stadium. Selfish fans. There were no more pitchers. I doubt that they want to see an All-Star pitcher get injured.
This was about two equally-talented squads playing one another. This isn’t the NBA finals; no team is going to get blown out. This was the first year for the Ted Williams MVP. Neither team lost. So what should have happened is that two MVPs should have been awarded.
