Friday’s letter to the editor defending Sen. Patty Murray’s comments regarding Osama bin Laden (“Nethercutt’s TV ad is unfair to Murray,” Oct. 8) shows how dangerous and out of touch followers of this liberal senator are.
In this letter, the author writes, “Sen. Murray was making valid comments about how Osama bin Laden works with the Muslims in poor areas to establish goodwill and gain support for his cause.” This is a ridiculous assertion. Bin Laden does nothing out of goodwill. His cause (murdering the infidel – you and me) and the notion of goodwill are antithetical. It is tantamount to saying, “sure Hitler was a maniac and genocidal, but his leadership improved the economy in Germany.”
Murray’s comments to school children came on the heels of the start of the war in Afghanistan and were largely sympathetic to bin Laden. They deserve the scrutiny of any candidate challenging Murray’s poor leadership. The author himself wrote that “our elected representatives must be able to speak their mind about current topics.” Apparently this doesn’t include Nethercutt pointing out Murray’s irresponsible and offensive misjudgment.
