President Bush now wants to make the fast food restaurants into manufacturing jobs. He says it should be considered manufacturing when you make a hamburger because you are cooking the hamburgers, adding condiments and assembling it on a bun. He is only doing that because it will make the economy look like it is improving since there is such a high turnover in those jobs. If he really wants to make these fast food restaurants into manufacturing jobs, I think the pay should also follow the title.
There are so many people out there who can’t even find a job, even college graduates, who are having to take jobs in the fast food industry to even stay alive. That is taking jobs away from the teenagers. There are no jobs and so many people are being laid off every day with no unemployment benefits to help them and they are just giving up and falling through the cracks. Why are there so many more people standing on freeway exits and entrances begging for work to feed their families if the economy is so good? These same people only a few years ago wouldn’t have even considered begging, but now that is the only way they can feed their families. Then our president brags about how the economy is improving.
