It’s time to reopen businesses and save economy

Certainly, one thing that all Americans are not celebrating is the shutdown of our economy which has affected most, if not all, of America. Nobody is celebrating the deaths caused by Covid-19 although some would say our mainstream media’s behavior could be interpreted as sensationalism. Many of us have parents, grandparents, or those in our lives who are predisposed to health issues who should be staying in (sheltering-in-place) until “the curve” of cases settles down. This makes sense.

What does not make sense? It does not make sense to force the shutdown of a majority of businesses in Washington state and America due to a virus that, as of April 15, has taken the lives of approximately 27,000 Americans. Not to minimize this number but where were our media giants when the flu took approximately 61,000 American lives during the 2018-19 flu season according to the CDC reports? Where was the economic shutdown then? Granted, Covid-19 has proven to be much more contagious and we lack a vaccine for it but now that most of the country has weathered the storm, let’s get on with the living.

The economies of Washington state and all of the United States are much more at risk from the unconstitutional actions of its leaders than any damage the coronavirus could ever cause to our citizens. It is time to resurrect our economy before the hole is too deep to climb out of. Enough damage has been done while the Covid-19 potential disaster has been averted in most of the U.S., so let’s get back to being the most productive economy in the world. Then, we will all have something to celebrate!
