Congratulations to the Port of Everett for refusing to have the Kalakala beached at the port.
This stinking hulk belongs on the bottom of a deep body of water as an artificial reef for the fish to play around. Better yet, it should be cut up for scrap metal. The estimated price tag to recondition the ship is $15 million. We all know original estimates are always substantially low when compared to the final cost. The current owner has reportedly raised $2,500!
This ship is one of the old things that just isn’t worth saving. It is far too dilapidated and is way too expensive to rebuild. Let’s keep that hulk out of our area and force the current owner to face the facts the previous owner learned. The project is ill-advised and cannot be funded. Let the old ship rest in peace.DAVE BROWN
