I welcome the jobs and revenue for the city of Arlington. (Monday article, “Battle won, Wal-Mart gets to work in Arlington.”)
But seriously, the decision to allow Wal-Mart in Smokey Point before any road improvements take place is irresponsible. No state funding allocated to make necessary changes for the hundreds, possibly thousands of Wal-Mart patrons that will travel the narrow two-lane stretch from 43rd Avenue NE to Highway 9. Has no one seen the traffic that already spans from Smokey Point Boulevard to 67th Avenue NE?
Those living in the general vicinity should pray they get the funding and improvements are finished before the super center opens. Otherwise, expect the quality of life through travel greatly diminished.
