The judicial system that declares our Pledge of Allegiance to be “unconstitutional” is proving itself to be out of touch not only with the American people, but with our heritage and the foundational principles of our great nation.
This proves once again the need for judicial restraint. We need judges who are pledged to uphold the Constitution and not rewrite it as is all too often the case.
Those of you who are as outraged as I am should be aware that the only way to correct this nonsense is to make sure we have senators in Washington who will properly confirm President Bush’s nominees to the federal bench. Currently there are 83 vacancies. When our president took office there were 67.
You should know that Sen. Maria Cantwell voted in lock-step with Senate democrats to reject Judge Pickering. Sen. Daschle also refused to bring this matter to the floor of the Senate. Sen. Leahy needs to feel the heat for perpetually detaining Bush’s nominees.
