This year, we will select a new mayor to lead our city. The stakes are high, since the next four years will lay the groundwork for how the city will respond to public safety challenges and how we will set the stage for expected population growth. We must ensure we have leadership that will listen to the citizens, set a vision based on our community’s collective goals, and execute an agenda that will achieve them. Success in this requires collaboration, fiscal discipline and a balanced approach to governing.
I am supporting Judy Tuohy as our next mayor because I believe she has the mix of skills it will take to lead our city. Judy’s vision concerning economic development convinced me she is the best candidate and I encourage you to read it from her website, www.judytuohy4mayor.com.
Judy for the past 22 years has built Everett’s Schack Art Center into one of the most prominent and successful non-profit organizations in our state. As council president she has shown her ability to bring the council together to accomplish things, and has distinguished herself as one who listens to, and involves, everyone in the process.
As the former Northwest Neighborhood chairwoman, I appreciate that Judy has strengthened the relationship between the neighborhoods and the City Council. I trust Judy to make decisions that are in our city’s best interest, and not be influenced by those whose motives may not share our goals. She is overwhelming supported by Everett residents not special interests or outsiders.
