Justice and closure for Clements’ family

Regarding Wednesday’s article “Gunman found guilty in Brier killing”:

I was so relieved to see justice finally served. What shocks me is the fact that Mr. Caldellis’ lawyer claims that his client did not show extreme indifference to human life by shooting a gun into a crowd of young people. Did he think the bullets were imaginary and that no one would get hurt? Give me a break.

Mr. Caldellis knew exactly what would happen if he fired into the group. The simple fact that he decided to take a gun to a “fist fight” shows extreme indifference. At least now Jay Clements’ family and friends have some closure and some justice. It’s just sad that Jay isn’t here anymore.

I’m just glad that the judge saw fit to remand him to prison to await sentencing. He was found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of assault. Jay doesn’t get to come home now, so why should Mr. Caldellis and his lawyer think he should get to go home until sentencing, because Christmas is coming up? Too bad for Mr. Caldellis, that’s what happens when you murder someone.
