Regarding the Herald Editorial Board’s endorsements for Monroe City Council: The editorial claims Jim Kamp has demonstrated care with the city’s finances. Mr. Kamp has supported the East Monroe Rezone, which has cost the citizens of Monroe about a half a million dollars and counting. This is money given to a private party, Thomas Minnick, supporting questionable land speculation. I don’t consider this care with the city’s finances.
As to your endorsement of Patrick Daniels over Kirk Scarboro, I believe you are mistaken. I have contacted Mr. Daniels concerning his position on East Monroe Rezone and have been unable to get a straight answer. Mr. Scarboro is not afraid to take a position on this issue and has started his opposition. Mr. Scarboro is a straight shooter and his reputation is above reproach. There will be no “funny business” with Mr. Scarboro.
