Lillian Kaufer, a Democratic candidate for state Senate, and her husband Pat run a small family business. They know first-hand how expensive it is for working families to afford health insurance and out-of-pocket health costs these days. Every month it costs them over $1,100 to insure their family of four.
Sadly, our current senator, Dave Schmidt, is doing very little to solve the problems of working families. Last year, he went so far as to vote against a one-year pilot program to give financial assistance to small business owners who want to do the right thing and offer affordable health insurance to their workers (E2SHB 2572.)
When elected to replace Schmidt, Lillian Kaufer will work hard for solutions, like ending state subsidies to big corporations that cut health insurance coverage and pass their uninsured employees’ health-care costs on to taxpayers. She’ll fight to make sure that every child in Washington is insured.
