It appears as if the cable barriers on I-5 north of Marysville may have saved a life. (Friday, “Trooper rear-ended by suspected drunk driver.”)
Judging from the way the State Patrol vehicle was slung against the cables, after being sideswiped, I don’t even want to think what would have happened to the trooper had there been a concrete wall. Makes me wonder if the right thing is being done by spending $20 million replacing the barriers.
Let’s get more troopers on the road and eliminate the drunk and reckless driving problems. I’m very thankful the trooper is OK.
