I was born and raised a Jew in the United States. I was encouraged to be proud of the long historical commitment of my people to peace, justice, and the rights of the underdog.
But I have long been deeply troubled by the treatment of Palestinians by the government of Israel. I join all who value peace and justice in condemning the completely disproportionate response of the government of Israel to relatively slight provocations by Hamas and Hezbollah. As some in Israel continue to say loud and clear – peace now!
