I’m writing in response to the Monday letter, “What does future hold for our nation?” about the movie “Sicko.”
We do have problems with the health-care system in our country, but I will gladly take our system over any other in the world. Canadians flock here every day to get treatment that they desperately need, but will have to wait months and sometimes years for in their own country. There are countless horror stories of people who need lifesaving surgery and are told they have to be put on a waiting list. You can wait months to get an MRI done even if your doctor thinks you might have a brain tumor!
In my book that is what health care is in a Third World country, not the United States of America. If that is your definition of “success,” we are at totally different ends of the spectrum on this issue. I do not want my government telling me what I have to accept for my health care. That is my choice and my freedom.
