My father was a police officer for 40 years in a small to mid-size town. He was a farm boy from Minnesota until moving out West in 1922. Times were very different then, but keeping law and order was the main purpose of his job. Picking up drunks staggering out of a tavern and taking them home was a daily common occurrence, rather than an overnight stay in jail.
It saddens me when I read of a rogue cop misusing his position and authority. It demeans the other officers who put their lives on the line for our safety and well being every day.
My thanks to the Edmonds Police Department who look out for us every day in every way.
