Some thoughts on what is happening to America and the school shootings. I have seen a sheriff putting it very well. The news media is glorifying these shooters by plastering their names and deeds all over the airwaves. Video games do the same thing by giving points for each kill and rape. We even have addiction clinics now for tech addiction. So, who is to blame? Money, news media, game manufacturers, politicians.
As a nation of kid breeders, we have failed. Baby-boomer parents have succeeded in trying to be our kids’ friends and not their parents who have to say, “No!” We want to be careful to not hurt anyone’s feelings by handing “participation” trophies. Teaching these younger kids that no one is a looser. Well, I’m sorry there are losers in this world. Moms and dads are too busy trying to be something other than parents. Kids need rules and supervision. They need to know their boundaries. Exactly how far they can go, what is acceptable and what is not. When these boundaries are established, the children are no longer under the stress of figuring out just how far they can go. They will already know.
When there is no one in their life to guide them with a firm and loving hand, they have to struggle on their own. Often time, their guidance comes in the form of peer pressure or gang affiliation. They need a father figure who is a constant presence in their life and not just someone that shows up every other weekend.
