King County is sponsoring, and therefore paying for, newspaper advertisements and mailings promoting their proposal of the Brightwater treatment plant on the Unocal site in Edmonds. Edmonds City Council has delivered a unanimous and resounding vote against Brightwater. So what’s Snohomish County doing about this? Apparently nothing.
Since taxpayers of King County are footing the bill for the promotion of Brightwater in Edmonds against the will of the people of Edmonds, it’s only right that Snohomish County financially support Edmond’s fight against Brightwater. As it stands, the resources to influence the outcome are blatantly one-sided. So how about it Mr. Drewel? Give Edmonds matching funds to fight the proposal, namely the same amount as King County is devoting to promote Brightwater on the Unocal site. All I ask is a level playing field.
