The decision by Superior Court Judge Linda Krese against Snohomish County in the Dwayne Lane/Island Crossing legal battle again shows how this County Council is willing and eager to waste taxpayers’ money for its close friends. This is the second court decision against the county on the same issue, and despite the loss, councilman John Koster stated that he was inclined to favor supporting Lane in an appeal. After two expensive court losses, Koster is still eager to spend taxpayers’ money a third time, despite the fact than no new evidence has surfaced that would cause any court to alter its ruling.
One wonders why council members Koster, Jeff Sax and Gary Nelson will do anything – including repeatedly ignoring the law – at the expense of county taxpayers. When each of them took office they were sworn in on an oath of upholding the laws of the county and the state. Do those three council members remember hearing those words, and swearing to uphold those laws? And even if they can’t remember that oath, don’t they think they’ve dug deeply enough into the taxpayers’ pockets already without considering picking their pockets again?
