Kristiansen fights for what’s best

Never in my life have I read a more vicious piece of garbage than when I came across Scott Olson’s letter in the Tuesday Herald (“Kristiansen’s vow is ringing hollow”). If Rep. Kristiansen has not been able to achieve funding for U.S. 2 repairs, it is not for a lack of effort. Rather, it is punishment from Democrats like Mary Margaret Haugen who chose to sacrifice lives in an effort to get Rep. Kristiansen to sign on to the Democrats’ porkbarrel transportation schemes.

It would be the easiest thing in the world for Rep. Kristiansen to sink into the slimy side of politics, cutting deals in the dark to get what he wants. Yet, as a man of honor and caliber, Rep. Kristiansen chooses to fight for his district above board, fighting year after year for what is best for his district. I would suggest to Mr. Olson that if he cared 1/10th as much about U.S. 2 as Rep. Kristiansen does, that he contact his fellow Democrats in Olympia this session and tell them to knock off the nonsense and fully fund the repairs.

And finally…I want to say “thank you” to The Herald for pointing out that Mr. Olson ran against Rep. Kristiansen in 2006. But you also need to know that Mr. Olson has filed a C1 registration with the Public Disclosure Commission for 2008, for Rep. Kristiansen’s seat (see www.pdc.wa.gov). This is an important fact to know when discerning whether or not a letter to the editor is truly from a disgruntled citizen or a thinly disguised campaign advertisement.
