I am a long-time resident of Snohomish County. I often listen to radio station KRKO in Everett to learn of local matters that are not fully discussed or discussed at all on the radio stations in Seattle.
KRKO’s signal needs to be strengthened. It often is full of static during the day and faint or unclear in the evening. I would like to have these deficiencies improved. It is time for the Snohomish County Council to take definitive action and approve the permits for a project that will give Snohomish County a full-power radio station so its citizens in South County can receive full, factual news and other things of local interest that are not covered by metro Seattle radio or TV.
I have no financial or other interests in KRKO, but speak solely as a citizen (having owned the first commercial FM radio station, the first AM classical radio station in Seattle and the Spokane radio station on the same frequency as KRKO). I have some knowledge of the legitimacy and necessity of KRKO’s request.
