I really enjoyed reading the article on March 1 about the Arlington Middle School principal Eric DeJong. It made me want to write to The Herald about another awesome principal at Snohomish Freshman Campus. Jeff Michaelson is another principal who highly deserves to be the top principal for the state of Washington.
I am so impressed with opportunities he is implementing at Snohomish Freshman Campus. His fresh ideas include Panther Period at the end of the day, where students can read or work on homework, but more importantly they have the occasion to go to their classes they need help with and have the teachers assist them in understanding assignments and concepts. Jeff has also created an after-school program for students who need even more extra help. These programs are helping to make his students successful toward graduation.
Jeff Michaelson is not only helping his students, he is also reaching out to their parents. He has been working to extend more time for parent conferences, so the parents understand what they can do to help make their kids successful. He is even reaching out to the middle school principals asking for their help to make the high school a better transition for the students.
Jeff Michaelson is making a huge difference for the Snohomish School District and his contribution of fresh ideas will only create a better learning environment and encourage his students to achieve more than just a diploma.
