I want to publicly thank the entire team of administrators, faculty, staff, and students who had a role in planning the most wonderful open house for the 100th anniversary of the Everett High School last weekend.
I especially want to recognize the super research and professional planning that Larry O’Donnell accomplished in producing the superb slide show highlighting the first 100 years of EHS! The photos (going back 100 years!) that accompanied his flawless narration were extra special.
Among those lifelong educators and community leaders highlighted were Maurice Thompson and Ruth Scougal (who was in the audience!) of my era. It was indeed a treat to see their “early” photos and hear of their numerous roles at EHS. The “packed” Civic Auditorium was a genuine testimony to the role EHS has played in our community over the past 100 years. Many of our current and former community, state and national leaders were featured as prominent alumni!
Kudos to Larry O’Donnell for compiling a most interesting documentary of our “School of Champions.” I will be looking forward to the announcement that the CD recording of this program (sponsored by Dr. Sanford Wright) will be available soon.
