Kudos to officials for raiding house

I’d like to thank all of the Snohomish County agencies, as well as other law enforcement folks and agencies involved in the apparent drug bust that occurred east of Snohomish on Dutch Hill Friday morning. (Saturday article, “Local, federal agencies investigating drug activity in rural Snohomish.“) As I came to the end of my driveway I saw that the road was blocked by police officers and knew instantly what was going on.

For the last 10 years all of us living in the area have cast a wary eye toward the goings on and obviously nefarious activities that were happening right in front of us. Over Memorial Day weekend our neighbors came home to their house being burglarized, catching the low-life in the act. He had come from the house that is now, at least temporarily, shut down.

Who knows what they are doing there, meth, heroin or any number of nasty drugs that are out there. Great life, huh? Steal, buy drugs, do drugs, pass out, wake up and do it all over again. What do these knotheads think the end result is anyway? Prison or death seems to be the only thing to me.

As I drove by and saw this guy’s grandmother sitting in her wheelchair with a befuddled look on her face I could only hope that there is someone, somewhere — a child, another grandchild — that can advocate for her and get her house sold so she can get into an assisted living facility and live out her days with some amount of dignity.

This bust, I am quite certain, consumed a lot of tax dollars, all because of some idiot taking advantage of the use of his grandmother’s house. I complain about my tax dollars being wasted as much as the next guy but I have absolutely no problem with spending money on this particular event or others like these. Way to go, Snohomish County cops; now go get him, Prosecutor Roe.
