In the Dec. 5 Arts &Entertainment special section featuring holiday music I was shocked to see that the only mention of the Everett Chorale was our paid advertisement buried within the section. Come on, Herald, aren’t you our major sponsor? But there, on the front cover, was a photo and header for the Skagit Chorus.
The Everett Chorale is Snohomish County’s premier chorale and is celebrating its 43rd year. We give back to our surrounding county communities with our gift of music and song each year in events such as the recent Providence Regional Medical Center’s Festival of Trees community day, annual retired educators breakfast, Argosy holiday ship and most recently, the mayor of Everett has asked us to participate in an upcoming tree lighting ceremony, to name just a few. We do this all without accepting payment. We have traveled to China, Europe, Canada and have appeared at Carnegie Hall.
Our dedicated members, along with our director, Lee Mathews, rehearse each week in between jobs, school and busy schedules to prepare for our annual concerts in December, April and June. We offer an outstanding selection of choral works for everyone to enjoy. We extend discounts for season tickets, seniors and those serving in the military.
So, in this member’s opinion, The Herald has truly hit a sour note by not sharing the Everett Chorale’s story with the community we so love to perform for.
