I am writing to share my endorsement of Gary Petershagen, Kim Daughtry, Steve Ewing and Marcus Tageant with Lake Stevens voters. Each are currently serving on the Lake Stevens City Council and have demonstrated their ability to lead our city forward; managing growth, developing new parks and recreation facilities and road improvements, along with a well-run police department. They have served the community well. I have always appreciated their thoughtful leadership, the time they take to address difficult subjects and to work with their colleagues and city staff to build confidence that Lake Stevens will continue to be a great place for individuals from all walks of life to work and raise families in a safe environment.
I have frequently referred to Lake Stevens as a “boot strap” city. Not too long ago the city’s urban growth area was defined under the state Growth Management Act ushering in the phenomenal growth we have experienced. But this growth management mandate came without parks, urban quality roads, and revenue to support an adequate police department, public works department and no parks department. Fortunately, by pulling on our bootstraps, these City Council members and their council colleagues carefully guided the city along a path to build needed city services and the ability to build better roads, a strong public safety program, and parks with recreational opportunities for everyone.
I am confident that Gary, Kim, Steve and Marcus will continue to serve the City well, address future issues with care, and with great respect for all citizens. We need their experience on the City Council.
Their experience matters.
