Few things give me as much joy as our family voting yes on a new library. While I appreciate the financial burden this can bring to others we are at a point in our lives that we can absorb the additional $6 per month this will add to our property taxes.
This for me is a worthwhile financial cost to bring a valuable resource to the community. On a personal note, the library kept me alive as a young person. It was a safe haven to go to year round when home was a daily nightmare to survive. The building, the librarians and everything under its roof allowed me to take the next breath when it would have been easier and far less painful to curl up and give up.
Libraries gave me more than knowledge. My library was a place to grow and discover who I could be after I walked away from the horrors of my young life. I am grateful everyday for having one thing that allowed me to simply survive. For this reason, we vote yes.
