Lake Stevens voters have a chance to invest in their community’s future with passage of an $8.4 million parks bond issue.
Voters should say yes to two elections questions on forming a park and recreation service area and authorizing the 20-year bond issue. The service area would have the same boundaries as the Lake Stevens School District.
Given the current economic climate, voters will have to weigh carefully the bond request. But this is an attractive package for a community center, community building and parks, including badly needed additional fields for youth sports. Ballots in the all-mail election must be postmarked by Tuesday.
