With Tim Eyman’s recent road trip to Olympia, to file yet another initiative, I find myself compelled to write a letter in support of Lakewood School District’s upcoming levy election. It seems as though voters are in what I term an “anti-tax” mode and I fear that the young people in our community will suffer.
Lakewood’s school board is committed to maintaining a responsible, conservative and balanced budget. We elected the school board members and I trust them to spend our tax dollars wisely. The school board has approved and is asking for no more than the current tax rate of $2.90 per $1,000 assessed property value. This means no increase of the rate that voters overwhelming approved two years ago.
I encourage you to vote yes on Feb. 5. Continue your investment in Lakewood’s youth.
