Dwayne Lane’s persistent pursuance of a rezone of Island Crossing, an agricultural flood plain, to enable him to sell more cars and open the door to large scale retail activity raises the question: “How much money is enough?”
Mr. Lane is certainly not suffering hard times with his several sales locations. It is deplorable that he is pulling every string to bring more commercialization to our area to increase our already overwhelming traffic situation. With our many already available retail sources and the Tulalip outlet mall now under construction, where is our need for more?
It is infinitely more pleasant to drive by an undeveloped flood plain than more city-type activity. We are losing far too much of our much-loved natural areas. Let’s keep it down to what is necessary, not the target for greed. I wish our County Council did not encourage this project and I hope those in positions of true authority will overcome the continuous legal maneuvering and do what is best for all the people, not the influential few.
