On July 23 I saw someone blatantly run a red light at the intersection of Marsh Road and Highway 9 in Snohomish. No doubt the driver is a card-carrying member of the “I/Me” club who opposes natural laws, moral laws and traffic laws/enforcement. One of many who think they can say or do whatever they want, whenever they want, without regard to others’ safety or their own.
If they break the law, hurt or kill someone, or do something stupid, they shouldn’t suffer any consequences — it’s someone else’s fault.
To all the red-light camera phobiacs out there: If you don’t want a business to be profitable or successful, you don’t patronize them, right? If you want the camera company and/or the cities to profit from the cameras, then keep right on breaking traffic laws. If you’d rather see a cop posted at every intersection, do you want to shell out the additional taxes to pay for them? Please note, cops aren’t perfect — they make occasional mistakes — just like new technology. If you don’t want to test their judgment, you know what to do — or not do. Those of you who “threaten” to stay out of Lynnwood or other places with cameras, please do if you insist on breaking traffic laws. We’ll all be much safer.
