I would like to add my thoughts to Kevin Bruaw’s July 1 op-ed piece about the noise ordinance (“Lynnwood noise ordinance is vague – targeting teens and young adults”).
I live on a busy street in Snohomish but sit quite far back from the road so I should not be bothered with loud noises coming from cars. However, it is not at all unusual for the noise from the stereo systems or boom boxes from the cars of teenagers to rattle the dishes in my cupboards. Also, one can be sound asleep at one or two o’clock at night and be awakened with a start at the racket.
I know police can’t be everywhere but if they would stop the offenders when they see them, it might help the problem. Instead, I have seen them sit at a stop light with a loud noise and just ignore it. Laws already on the books need to be enforced.
