Before every election I try to make sure I educate myself on the candidates beyond what is given to us in the voter’s guide. I find your paper’s Web site a great tool to search archived news stories.
One such story found on your Web site that affected my vote was the Sept. 27, 2001 article on 44th district House candidate Randy Nichols. The article states that Mr. Nichols is suing the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for $10 million. It concerns me that with the budgetary problems our state and communities are facing, that someone who is willing to sue our county’s great law enforcement agency for $10 million would even consider running for elective office. It also concerns me that The Herald did not re-visit this issue upon Nichols’ declaration of candidacy.
