I was surprised to read in Monday’s Herald that the several County departments are asking for more money than is available from the county coffers. (Article, “Staffers seek what cuts took”). Why was I surprised? Well, I had assumed the county executive would have held a meeting in which he would had informed them that there would be a shortage of money this year. A shortage that would have an effect on their respective departments.
A good leader would have told the department heads that they only have X dollars available to them in the coming year and they would have to plan accordingly.
Our county executive didn’t do that.
I think this is a strong indication of the need to elect a new leader. A leader who knows how to lead, not just be a part of the group.
