Regarding the Dec. 2 story titled “State springs for road projects”: I have a good way for the state and local government to save money in these days when less money is available. Lynnwood and Edmonds, together with the state, should abandon plans to widen Olympic View Drive between 76th Avenue and 168th Street.
There are fine trees along Olympic View Drive, which would be removed or damaged in any widening. The road follows a nice curving path, of the kind that tends to get wiped out in widening projects. I have lived here for four years, traveling that road often, and have never seen an accident there. There aren’t enough roads of such character left in this area – please don’t destroy this one.
