A recent letter writer made the claim in this column that Charles Krauthammer “only plays one tune,” calling him “the most worthless opinion columnist you publish.” The reader suggests that The Herald should find someone to replace him and offers Fareed Zakaria as someone with “original” ideas.
Mr. Zakaria was voted one of Forbes 25 most influential liberals in the American media. I wonder if this reader has ever noticed Eugene Robinson, David Sirota, Froma Harrop or Dana Milbank? I look forward to reading Krauthammer’s column and though I rarely agree with the other contributors, I still read their “ideas.” I believe readers that are “right of center” should keep an open mind when reading these assuredly “left of center” columnists. I suppose it would do everyone well to try it.
