Kudos for publishing the commentary about buffers around streams and rivers (“Ineffective waste of land, stream buffers are back,” The Herald, Jan. 9)
Gov. Jay Inslee is just grooming himself for another run at the presidency. I suspect he doesn’t give a tinker’s damn about the salmon, or whether his boneheaded buffer legislation passes or not, so long as he gets to signal his environmental virtue to the clueless voter.
I only hope the state legislature doesn’t fall for this cynical, political “optic” and protect our farmers from it.
