Regarding the March 20 article, “Harvey Field’s future might include a longer runway”: Seriously? Are we ever going to be finished discussing the fate of Harvey Field in Snohomish? Yet, here we go once again.
Aside from the obvious reasons, Harvey Field shouldn’t be allowed to go ahead with this project. How many people in Snohomish County are willing to pay higher taxes to reconstruct a road that will only benefit a private party? This would not only cost an enormous amount of money, it would add more flooding issues to property owners.
Those of us closest to the airport would be dealing with plummeting home values, more noise due to additional and bigger aircraft being closer to homes because of the added runway, traffic issues, families being disrupted, more flooding issues, the list goes on and on.
All Snohomish County residents would be affected in one way or another. Think of how hard this could hit you in the pocketbook, and let’s fight! Please keep in mind that all of this is to benefit one single private business, while hurting families that will suffer if this project is allowed to go forward.
