In the Tuesday editorial, “Sonics must make their case,” you stated “we suspect most Puget Sound taxpayers don’t want to see the Sonics leave town.” How did you arrive at your conclusion? Maybe a more interesting idea would be to ask your readers, or any others, three simple questions:
1. If the Sonics left town would this have a significant impact on your life?
2. Do you really care if the Sonics leave town?
3. Do you feel there are better uses for tax money than remodeling KeyArena?
My guess would be that most Puget Sound taxpayers would rather have better schools, improved roads, better police protection, etc. than helping multi-millionaire owners and players become richer than they already are. But that is a whole new survey. Count me in for showing them the door or fixing the arena themselves. Consider it a business expense.
So don’t assume you know what we are thinking. Go find out.
