This ongoing debate about President Obama — Muslim or Christian — is very interesting. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison worked very hard for years to make sure there was no religious test required to hold public office.
It may not have worked the way they hoped, but they did have success in blocking the group that wanted to turn the U.S.A. into a theocracy.
The day a candidate can make the following statement — “I think scientists are right, the world is billions of years old and not created 6,000 years ago. I believe in evolution” — and still be elected, we will know the dark ages are over.
