By this time the Pain Field (Paine Field) rhetoric should have soaked in more than the recent floods in Snohomish County.
County Council, the County Executive, Mukilteo and Edmonds mayors, and all the non-Paine Field hand-wringers should get a grip!
This question should be “Painefully” obvious to most Snohomish County voters. Would you rather drive through the I-5 mess from Snohomish County to Sea-Tac or hit the Boeing Freeway to Paine Field for a flight?
The answer is simple. Most Snohomish County voters would rather save the gas, time and effort to get to an airport that causes less pain, uncertainty and discomfort than a trip to Sea-Tac. With light rail and rapid transit an abysmal and costly failure, how much time do you think it will take to get to Sea-Tac in five years?!
It’s time for “change” as Barack Obama would say. Let’s get with the program and support major (and minor) airlines moving to Paine Field. Hand-wringing and crying will only appease the wealthy lawyers and land owners in a very small piece of real estate in South Snohomish County. What about the vast majority?
Maybe Tim Eyman could draft an initiative that would simply ask, “Would you rather drive to Sea-Tac or Paine Field for a commercial flight?”
I think we all know what the outcome would be.
