What is wrong with this picture?
On Page One of the Jan. 14 Herald there was an article describing the closing of a nursing home in Snohomish, causing 52 elderly people to seek new places to be cared for. This was caused by lack of funds.
The same paper showed a picture of a smiling President Bush, signing to allot another billion or so to put a manned station on the moon so we can further observe Mars.
As a veteran of WWII, giving five years of my young life in the hopes of making our country a great place to grow old, this somehow tells me it’s more important to forget the people who made America beautiful, and fly off to another planet when we haven’t been able to manage the one we are on with any degree of fairness.
