What would most of the population do if suddenly prohibition was once again enforced? Or maybe their daily morning coffee was suddenly illegal?
What some non-smokers don’t understand is that before Dec. 8, smokers were within the law when smoking in any designated smoking area. Now they have to change not only their smoking habits, but also their social habits. Instead of remaining inside to have a smoke while at the bar, they will have to move 25 feet outside the establishment! In some cases that is in the middle of the road. Yes, non-smokers do have the right to clean air. But smokers also have the right to be left alone when they are trying to follow the rules.
I, for one, do not carry a tape measure with me, so please don’t hassle me if I may not be 25 feet from the door! Most smokers if asked will kindly move if they are bothering anyone.
As for enforcing the law, the police have better things to do than play the babysitter. There is no reason for this to turn into a child’s game of tattle tales.
