Finally a voice in the crowd that makes perfect sense! I refer to Dave Beames writing about the Everett Community College pool (May 2 “EvCC pool: Partnership could save this facility”). The city, as well as the county, has been extremely successful at partnering when it comes to projects and caring for the community. Certainly an asset like the Everett Community College pool is something worth saving, and seeking the necessary funds to do that is a project deserving of the capabilities that the City of Everett has. Look what happened when the ice arena was a desired addition to the All-America City.
Placing a building around the existing pool (that is a functioning asset) seems to make more sense than the cost of demolition. For the sake of the college’s neglect of the current building, the community goes wanting for a swimming pool. That seems an awful shame and waste of a resource for want of a roof.
