I have a suggestion for the Snohomish Health District and its public health officers on how to defend against the West Nile Virus. In order to reduce mosquito breeding grounds, the Health District should get the Snohomish County Planning Commission to change the law that requires developers to put a water retention pond on every piece of property being developed. They have been requiring these mosquito ponds for quite a few years and I am sick of seeing them everywhere.
We don’t have the luxury of time to develop our response as Randal Darst, the assistant environmental health director thinks; not when we are building mosquito ponds every time we develop property.
