If there ever was an example of the bias, non-effectiveness and silliness of the mainstream press, media and blogs, the recent flap over the comments of the Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean responding to a question on gay marriage is a glaring example. Prejean was not advocating or speaking for any group or issue. She only responded with her personal opinion, exercising free speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution.
The mainstream press, media and blogs took a meat hammer to Prejean and wanted no less than to humiliate her, destroy her and have her stripped of her Miss California title because of her personal beliefs. Gee, that sounds like James Carville’s “Politics of Personal Destructon!” Kudos to Donald Trump for the decision to allow Prejean to retain her Miss California crown.
Maybe the mainstream press, media and blogs could turn their efforts to just a slightly more serious issue. Maybe they could ask the president of the United States of America why he won’t release the original coy of his birth certificate to the public to verify he is authorized to hold the office. Or why he has spent money to defend himself in several courts in different states to fight the release of his original birth certificate? Now that’s an issue I would be interested in hearing about.
