Once again Tim Eyman is in the news promoting another badly written initiative that the state Supreme Court will likely shoot down, just like most of the rest of them. While promising his supporters the moon and stars, what has he actually delivered? The new twist is punishing the Legislature unless he gets his way, if this latest one passes in the election. So what does Eyman propose cutting out of the budget if the state doesn’t bow to his latest wishes?
Should we stop spending money on education? Roads? Emergency services? I bet he doesn’t have an answer to that question, though. He’ll let others clean up after any mess he’s made. Here is my challenge to Eyman: Put your money where your mouth is. Instead of filing a parade of initiatives, if he thinks he should have a say in the laws of this state, then run for office. I wonder why he hasn’t yet? Is it because there’s more money in initiatives than serving? I would be very interested to learn what his salary was before he became the “Initiative King” and what he took home last year. Is that why he doesn’t run for office? But he gets to keep getting the voters to buy his snake oil without having to deal with the consequences or fallout from your proposals. Let’s leave that to the government he is trying to defund.
