The letter written by the retired Navy guy in Sunday’s paper made me feel sick to my stomach. (“Cartoon about gays insults vets.”) Does he really believe he never served with gays? Not that anyone would ever reveal that aspect of their lives with him.
If there was a breakdown in discipline because of his hate and fear it’s the other person’s problem? Insert female or Jewish or black instead of gay and it becomes very clear what the problem is here. I have served with gay and straight and so did the letter writer. I know people who are on their third and fourth tours in Afghanistan and guess what, some are gay.
News flash: People do not have to hide who they are because others can’t deal with it. Maybe they have to hide in fear in Iran or other such countries but I will not stand for it in America.
